Camping on Jackfish Lake — August 14–17, 2026 · Battlefords Provincial Park

🏕️ Shelter & Sleep

  • Tent with stakes and guylines
  • Tarp (extra weather protection)
  • Sleeping bag rated for cool nights
  • Sleeping pad or air mattress
  • Pillow
  • Blanket or sleeping bag liner
  • Hammer or mallet for stakes

👕 Clothing

  • Swimwear (exta sets if available)
  • Layers for cool evenings (SK nights get cold)
  • Rain jacket or poncho
  • Long pants for campfire evenings
  • Casual clothes for 4 days
  • Hat (sun protection)
  • Sunglasses
  • Water shoes or sandals for around camp
  • Closed-toe shoes for walking

🌊 Lake & Water Activities

  • Life jackets — mandatory for kids, recommended for all
  • Towels (recommended 2 per person — you will get wet)
  • Waterproof sunscreen (SPF 50+)
  • Floaties / pool noodles
  • Kayak or canoe (if you have one)
  • Fishing gear + valid SK fishing licence
  • Waterproof phone pouch
  • Dry bags for valuables

🍔 Cooking & Food

  • Cooler + ice (replenish daily)
  • Camp stove + fuel canisters
  • Pots, pans, and cooking utensils
  • Plates, bowls, cups, cutlery
  • Dish soap, sponge, drying towel
  • Paper towels and napkins
  • Aluminum foil + ziplock bags
  • Cooking oil, salt & pepper, condiments
  • Snacks for the drive and camp
  • Refillable water bottles
  • Coffee maker / kettle
  • Breakfast and lunch items for Fri–Mon
  • Sunday BBQ provided by parents

🦟 Health, Safety & Comfort

  • Bug spray with DEET (Saskatchewan mosquitoes are legendary)
  • After-bite cream
  • First aid kit
  • Personal medications
  • After-sun lotion / aloe vera
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Toilet paper (backup supply)

👧 Kids & Families

  • Life jackets — properly fitted to child's weight
  • Sun tent or shade canopy for small kids
  • Sand toys and buckets
  • Spare change of clothes ×3 (they will get soaked)
  • Baby wipes
  • Entertainment for the drive (tablets, headphones)
  • Stroller or carrier for toddlers
  • Mineral-based sunscreen (SPF 50+) for babies

🎲 Entertainment & Extras

  • Lawn games (bocce, horseshoes, ladder toss, frisbee)
  • Playing cards and board games
  • Guitar or other instruments for the sing-along
  • Camera + extra batteries / SD cards
  • Power bank for phones
  • Camping chairs — required for Sunday pavilion service

🔧 Camp Essentials

  • Firewood or camp firestarter (check park rules on outside wood)
  • Matches and lighter
  • Lantern / headlamps + extra batteries
  • Extension cord / power bar (if site has power)
  • Rope or clothesline + clothespins
  • Duct tape — fixes everything
  • Garbage bags (pack it in, pack it out)
